Pushkar commands a special place on the map of Rajasthan as the town is dotted with numerous temples. Pushkar is located 11 kms from Ajmer, and is world famous for its holy lake believed to have been created by Brahma. Thousands of devotees throng the lake to take a holy dip. Pushkar has as many as 400 temples and 52 ghats in addition it boasts of the only temple dedicatd to Brahma in the world. The camel fair is a much- awaited event that enlivens the whole town. Besides the picturesque locales, ancient temples attract tourists all year through. A visit to the Pushkar fair is truly the experience of a lifetime.

City Tour:
» Temples: Some of the holy places that you should make a point to visit while in Pushkar are the Brahma Temple, Gau Ghat, Nag Hill, Markendeya Rishi Ashram, Pap Mochini Temple, Savitri Temple, Agastya Muni Ashram and Gaya Kund.

Pushkar Lake:
Is an important pilgrimage spot for Hindus. According to legend, the Pushkar Lake Was created by Brahma. A Brahma temple located here is a popular place of pilgrimage. The holy lake has 52 ghats where pilgrims take a ritual dip. The entire lake is supposed to be surrounded by 500 temples and 52 palaces.

Pushkar fair:
In the month of October or November, Pushkar pulsates with various entertaining events in the Pushkar Fair which is world famous.There are folk dances and songs, trading of horses, camels and cows, exciting camel cart races and other cultural events. Pushkar Bazaar- The Bazaar offers delightful options to a shopper. The local markets exhibit Rajasthani costumes, jewellery, embroidered fabrics and decorative pieces.

Climate Guide:
Pushkar has an extreme climate with high climatic variations between the seasons. Summers have hot days though the nights can be cold. Temperature remains in the range of 10ºC in the winters. There is not much of rain in Pushkar even during the monsoon. The best time to visit the place is in the winters and (September to March).

Shopper's Paradise:
Pushkar is the right place to buy typical Rajasthani artifacts. However the place is famous for silverand beaded jewellery, embroidered fabrics, bed and cushion covers. Particulary good buys include Rajasthani puppets and fusion music. One can also lay there hands on some books, as the is a great place to buy books.

Reaching Pushkar:
» By Air: The nearest airport from Pushkar is Jaipur. Jaipur is well connected to all the major cities which includes Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta, Jodhpur, Udaipur.

» By Bus: Pushkar is 11 km from main Ajmer bus stand. Rajasthan Roadways run very comfortable deluxe & air conditioned buses from Jaipur. There are buses from Jaipur to Ajmer every 15 minutes, some nonstop. The roads are very good, and it takes around 2 hrs from Jaipur. You can also come by taxi.

» By Train: The nearest railway station for Pushkar is Ajmer, which is on the Broad Gauge and hence connected to all the metro cities of India. There are daily trains from Delhi in morning (Shatabdhi Exp) and evening (Intercity Exp).

» Local Transport: Biking is another good way of traveling across Pushkar. While the place can be explored walking and trudging down town.
